Tasting notes
The three luxury-priced offerings from Penfolds include a spectacular 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Bin 707. This opaque purple-colored wine exhibits a huge, jammy, blackcurrant, vanilla, licorice, and earthy-scented nose, as well as massive concentration of fruit, glycerin, and body. Readers will find plenty of sweet tannin in the awesomely-endowed finish. This blockbuster, monster-sized Cabernet Sauvignon is accessible because of its low acidity and ripe tannin. The formidable extract suggests it will drink well for 10-15+ years. Importer: PWG Vintners, USA, Inc., Monterey, CA; tel. (408) 655-4848
