Tasting notes
Le Carillon de l'Angelus, tried a fortnight after the En Primeur week, is a blend of 50% Merlot 50% Cabernet Franc. The nose has rich, concentrated black fruits and this translates onto the palate though with the tempering of new oak smmothing the edges and adding a hint of vanilla. The fruit character is very clean and linear yet this wine remains approachable now.

The second wine, the 2011 Carillon de Angelus, is a soft, herbal, round, juicy red that is ideal for drinking over the next 5-6 years. It is good rather than inspiring.
Attractive second wine of Angelus with lemon rind, cocoa and dried fruits. Medium body, with fine tannins and a pretty finish. James Suckling, jamessuckling.com
