Based on 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah that’s from the Les Cassanets lieu-dit near the estate, the 2009 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Quartz offers spicy, crazy Provençal herbs, bloody, meaty, and street market-like notes. Round, lush, and sweetly fruited on the palate, it has beautiful tannins, full-bodied richness, and is as Provençal as they come. This gorgeously complex, sensational 2009 was vinified in 100% cuve tronconique and aged 17 months in 85% foudre and 15% neutral barrique. It will continue to deliver the goods over the coming 10-15 years if well stored. Drink: 2025-2039.

The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Quartz continues to drink well, as it has almost from the start. Black cherries and olives mingle easily on the nose and palate, picking up hints of leather and Asian five spice powder on the finish. Still full-bodied and silky-textured, this elegant wine should be drunk now and over the next few years.
Vivid ruby-red. Heady, complex bouquet evokes red and dark berry compote, lavender, sandalwood and minerals, with a lashing of Asian spices. Sappy and alluringly sweet on the palate, displaying intense raspberry and mulberry flavors and slow-building florality. Shows impressive power on the finish, where the lavender and spice notes carry through.
