The 1990 represents a strong effort for this property. It is surprisingly dark in color, with medium body, fine structure, plenty of depth and richness, and an interesting bouquet of olives, smoky oak, and over-ripe black fruits. This wine reminds me somewhat of a lighter version of the 1979. Anticipated maturity: 1996-2008.

About the producer

Until recently owned by the Albada Jelgersma family (along with Giscours), Ch. du Tertre is one of the oldest estates in the region – with a history stretching back 1,000 years. Classified as a Fifth Growth, its 54 hectares of vines sit on high gravel outcrops in Margaux.
