The 2012 Lune d'Or has an intriguing bouquet, not unlike a Loire with some maturity. Touches of wet wool permeating the citrus fruit and hints of beeswax come through with time. The palate is well balanced with white chocolate and walnut on the entry, a little yeasty in style, but with adequate freshness on the finish.

The 2012 Clos des Lunes is pretty and charming, bursting with aromas of waxy citrus rind, golden orchard fruit, dried white flowers and beeswax. Medium to full-bodied, ample and lively, with an attractive core of fruit and a sapid, saline finish, it's a giving middleweight in no sign of decline as it closes in on its tenth birthday.
Bought in August 2011 by the Bernard family of Dom de Chevalier, Clos des Lunes was formerly known as Ch Haut Caplane and belonged to Castel. Very rich and sweet and a bit exaggerated. Hard work! (JR)
Made from the finest barrels, the 2012 Lune d’Or is made from an identical blend, but the wine tastes richer and fuller. It has virtually the same personality as its sibling, but is more unctuous in the mouth. Both wines can be drunk now and over the next five years. Apr 2013, www.robertparker.com
