Very dark crimson. Tobacco and smoky herbs on the nose. Dense and quite tannic and muscular. Chunky and chewy still. It doesn’t have the sheer mass of the 2005 but it’s also a long-term vintage. A tad dry and dusty on the end. (JR)

Château Reynon is situated in Béguey near Cadillac on the right bank of the Garonne. The property dates back to the 15th century when it was called Château de Béguey. Denis Dubourdieu, agronomist and oenologist, has been running the estate since 1976, and makes his wine with great care and considered oak handling. The vineyard is on a south facing slope with the vines averaging over 25 years of age. Blackcurrant, leather, cedar, lots to enjoy here, very smooth and well-integrated tannins. GV. (RH)
From the home estate of the famed Bordeaux oenologist, Professor Denis Dubourdieu, this is always a richly fruity, surprisingly complex, lush, medium-bodied wine emphasizing purity, balance, and overall grace and satisfaction. The 2006 is all of that and more, but keep in mind, this needs to be drunk in its first 3-4 years of life. Good value.
Transparent nose – lively but light. Lots of acidity and just a bit too green for comfort. Very chewy. (JR)
