Cabernet Sauvignon leafiness dominates the nose. Fresh with lots of fruit but pretty simple. Rather ordinary. Certainly an unusual and interesting wine but perhaps 12 g/l residual sugar is a bit too much? (JR)

The medium-bodied 2004 Rose, a Grenache/Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon/Dolcetto blend, exhibits big, exuberant, strawberry and cherry aromas, good color, plenty of structure, and surprising size as well as flavor. American Estates Wines, Inc., Summit, NJ; tel. (908) 273-5060
