2004 Trottevieille

Very dark crimson. Very simple and a bit raw. So austere and ungenerous! This is just fruit – not love. Sorry to be so metaphorical, but this really stands out as being ordinary. (JR)

Low key nose – a bit dilute and amorphous. Slightly green tannins and a bit astringent. (JR)

A modern-styled bouquet of sweet toasty oak, chocolate, and black fruits soars from this dark ruby/purple-tinged wine. Medium-bodied and well-made with supple tannin, it does not display as much complexity as some of its peers, but more nuances may emerge with additional bottle age. Sweet tannin, low acidity, and ripe fruit suggest it should be drunk over the next 12-15 years.
