Tasting notes
1998 was also a vintage which tested us even though the 1998 is tasting well at the moment. Oct 6 harvest start. Difficult vintage because ripeness quite compromised – like 2002. They eliminated 8% of production after barrel ageing (as they did in 2005 apparently). Definite mature hints at the rim. Quite mature nose – much more developed than the 1999 for example. Firm backbone but nicely developed – like 2002 – on the nose. Much sweeter and more beguiling than the 1999 for me. You could already enjoy it. Quite long. (JR)
