Ch. Pape Clément

Among the oldest estates in Bordeaux, Ch. Pape Clément has been guided into the modern era by Bernard Magrez, who has managed the estate since 1985. It makes some of the best reds in the region.

This Pessac-Léognan property boasts seven centuries of history. In 1305, during the reign of King Philip I of Castile, the property's owner the Archbishop of Bordeaux Bertrand de Goth was appointed pope. His new title as Clément V meant he had to give up the property to the church but not before he had given his name to it: Ch. Pape Clément.
