Tasting notes
Saturated magenta. Displays spice-accented kirsch, blackberry, olive and baking spice aromas, along with suggestions of cured tobacco and olive. Juicy, focused and energetic on the palate, offering appealingly sweet cassis, cherry-cola, licorice and spicecake flavors that steadily deepen through the back half. Smooth, even tannins frame a long, lively finish that's given shape by fine-grained tannins.

A blend of four lieux-dits (mainly Le Mollard, but also La Brosse, Fontgeant and La Landonne) that incorporates 3% to 4% Viognier, Gérard's 2019 Cote Rotie delivers tart raspberry fruit, but it balances that with a medium to full-bodied palate, a rich, silky feel and a nicely concentrated, somewhat tannic finish. Give it a couple of years in the cellar and drink it over the next decade or more.
