Much deeper and more vigorous colour than the regular 1987. Smudgy pale rim. Smells quite intense and intriguing but as though not all of the grapes were fully ripe. On the palate there is some strawberry jam and definite concentration though none of the really wild notes that characterise Nacional at its best. A bit stolid for a Nacional. Still a bit of tannin but a hint of spirit too. (JR)
