The 1999 Andréas comes from vines just below Moulin Cadet. It has an attractive bouquet of blueberry and hoisin aromas that unfold in the glass. The palate is where it suffers with age, missing some balance and backbone and leading to quite a strong balsamic finish. It is not a wine without pleasure, but the palate just does not quite match the quality of the nose. Tasted from an ex- château bottle with Jean-Luc Thunevin.

This 1999 is somewhat austere, lean, and a bit sharp and underwhelming. This straightforward, dark ruby-colored wine from Jean-Luc Thunevin is competent but unexciting. Drink it over the next 6-7 years.

Good medium ruby. Pungent, highly aromatic nose of minerals, dark chocolate and espresso. Sweet but quite firm, with a strong minerality giving the wine a solid spine. Not hugely fleshy but very concentrated. Long and solid, with serious, mouthcoating tannins.
