Tasting notes
The 1995 Barolo Monprivato (magnum) is superb. Dense and powerful in the glass, it offers up copious black cherry/plum fruit, gravel, smoke, tobacco and leather. Still a bit burly, the 1995 has finally started to soften, although some burliness remains in the tannins. Its virile, youthful intensity makes it one of the most pleasant surprises of the evening.

This traditional producer has turned out a 1995 Barolo Monprivato with earthy, truffle, licorice, and dusty black cherry fruit. Medium to full-bodied, with good ripeness, excellent purity, and a nicely extracted, rustic, generous style, it is already accessible, yet promises to last for 10-12 years.
