Ruby with some development. Inky, meaty nose – I might be tempted to guess Pomerol blind! Very sweet and juicy then it finishes savoury. (JR)

48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The 30-year-old vines are planted on deep gravel soil. The wine is made with a cold maceration prior to fermentation lasting around 72 hours, and is aged in oak barrels for 15 months (50% new, 50% one-year-old) prior to the final blending and bottling. Dark crimson with evolution at the rim. Pretty dominated by oak on the nose. Rather sour and cussed. (JR)

Quite dark. Heady, full on the nose – more so than Ch Margaux actually at this stage! But then pretty raw and simple. Correct, but unexciting. (JR)

This is a weedy, herbal effort with modest concentration and a narrow, angular mouthfeel. It will only become increasingly desiccated with aging, so drink it up.
