The 2017 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru offers more red fruit than Mugneret-Gibourg's Ruchottes and is equally well defined and poised, with disarming transparency. The palate offers vibrant, slightly tart red fruit. Quite spicy in the mouth, surfeit with energy and displaying superb structure and grip on the finish. This is a magnificent Ruchottes-Chambertin. Chapeau! Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

Very rich and seductive on the nose. Not the absolute top drawer but it certainly delivers grand cru quality. Sweetness, full ripeness, spice, and a certain crackling texture and energy. (JR)
