Score 91-92/100 · Drink 2005-2020, Pierre Rovani, Apr 2005

Revealing a nose of red cherries, cassis, blackberries, and tar, the dark-colored 2003 Corton Greves (red) is in a similar vein to the Pommard Rugiens. Broad-shouldered, chewy, and thick, it is medium-bodied, crammed with dark fruits, stones, licorice, as well as leather, and boasts a dense, lengthy finish. Packed with ripe tannin, this offering appears loaded for the long-haul. Drink it between 2005 and 2020. Importer: Kobrand, Inc., New York, NY; tel. (212) 490-9300

(there are 4 barrels of this, compared to a normal 12 or 13) Deep ruby-red. Black fruits, leather and minerals on the nose. Sweet, highly concentrated and very ripe, with plenty of verve and underlying spine. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins and good grip. A strong showing.
