The 2015 Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche Grand Cru was stubbornly backward and broody on the nose: hints of yellow flower and struck flint. Nosing this felt like I was disturbing its prenatal slumber. The palate had more to say. It is well balanced with a brush of honey on the entry, a keen thread of acidity, a hint of spice with a composed yet straight-laced finish that I find less expressive than the Corton-Charlemagne at the moment. Let's see how this turns out in bottle. It's a Montrachet, though that does not necessarily mean it is Drouhin's finest white this vintage. Dec 2016, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2020-2038

Tasted blind, the 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche performed brilliantly, revealing a lovely bouquet of white flowers, ripe pear and hazelnut cream. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, glossy and textural, with considerable concentration and chewy extract underpinned by bright, tangy acids that lend excellent delineation to the long, pure finish. It's a terrific Morgeot that would embarrass many grands crus in this vintage. Oct 2018, www.robertparker.com

Joseph Drouhin is one of the largest and most famous producers in Burgundy, making both domaine and négociant wines. It remains family-owned and run, now in the hands of the fourth generation.
