The 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is hampered by heavy reduction on the nose and some overripe tropical fruit underneath. Like the Bâtard-Montrachet, this lifts with aeration and augurs well for what will ultimately become a very fine bouquet. The palate is rounded and viscous on the entry and quite reduced, with a smooth, low-acid finish that just needs a little more tension and bite. Excellent - but is the Bâtard-Montrachet even better? Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 10 closure)

Cask sample. Tight and introvert and very fine. A real treat! Dances and is complete. Great balance. (JR)
