Tasting notes
Maturing mid ruby with narrow, bricky rim. Savoury-sweet nose with iron notes. Supple, ripe fruit with lots of grainy tannins. It is losing its lustre a little. (WS)

Mid to deep ruby. Deep, open cherry fruit that is a little rich and with sweet-savoury spice notes. Supple, rich tangy fruit with bags of grainy tannins giving it shape. Ready now. (WS)
The 2016 Albatreti Brunello di Montalcino lifts up with a mentholated display of musky wild berries, sage, mint and a hint of brown spice that comes forward over time. It opens up with soft textures, contrasted by tart red and black fruits and nervous acidity, coming across as savory and slightly rustic, with grippy tannins taking hold through the finish. The expression becomes quite dry and rigid, which a few years of cellaring should help round out.
