Tasting notes
The 2006 Shiraz The Boxer is also opaque purple. The compelling nose exhibits aromas of scorched earth, smoke, grilled bacon, blueberry compote, and blackberry liqueur. Full-bodied, thick and rich, this layered Shiraz is velvety-textured and opulent. The finish lasts for nearly a minute. It is a sensational value. It can be enjoyed now but will evolve for several years. Importer: Mollydooker International, www.mollydookerwines.com.au

This sports a jet black color all the way to the rim and is completely opaque. The nose shows deep, rich black fruits with cassis, blackberry, earth, melted licorice, graphite and vanilla aromas careening from the glass. While this is definitely heady (less so on the second day), I don't find this hot or over the top and is surprisingly restrained. Full bodied with a massive, a stunningly creamy texture, nice balance and amazing length, richness and palate presence on the finish. This was drank over two days and while certainly pushing the edge on the creamy texture, it still holds everything together and is a fantastic drink.
