2016 Caroline Morey Criots-Batard-Montrachet

Pale, bright straw-yellow. Musky peach, pear, menthol and smoky minerality on the reduced nose. Densely packed, salty wine with lurking orchard and stone fruit flavors currently overshadowed by a distinctly smoky quality and salty minerality. This too is rather reduced but conveys strong savory, smoky soil tones and a thickness of texture. A bit richer than the above but with a deeper pitch, and less harmonious today. Has plenty of acidity but not quite the lift of the Caillerets. Held up beautifully in the recorked bottle.
