The 2007 Corullon Las Lamas was also aged in 100% new French oak. It proffers a compelling bouquet of sandalwood, mineral, Asian spices, incense, lavender, black cherry, and black raspberry. Satin-textured, multifaceted, and intense, it is full of finesse, elegance, and impeccable balance. It can be approached now but will continue to evolve for several more years. Drink this hedonistic offering through 2022. Descendientes de Jose Palacios was founded in 1998 by Alvaro Palacios. It has steep hillside vineyards ranging in age from 60-100 years planted to 100% Mencia, the indigenous grape of cool-climate Bierzo. The vineyards are biodynamically farmed and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration. Importer: The Rare Wine Company, Sonoma, CA; tel. (707) 996-4484
Deep ruby. Deep cherry and blackcurrant aromas are complicated by iron, smoked meat and violet. Powerful red and dark berry flavors are braced by zesty minerality and gain sweetness with air. The red fruit takes the upper hand on the strikingly energetic finish, which leaves sexy floral and Indian spice notes behind. A more masculine wine than the Moncerbal and in need of greater patience.
