Tasting notes
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Stone Place is another fresh and elegant yet also concentrated Cabernet that does everything right. Pure cassis and black raspberry fruits, notes of tobacco leaf and spice, full-bodied richness, perfectly integrated oak, and silky tannins all make for a remarkable, classic Napa Valley Cabernet that offers accessibility today yet the balance, structure, and purity to keep for 25+ years. This cuvée comes from a single block (Block 3) and the oldest vines of the estate, which is located in St. Helena.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Stone Place is a gorgeous, heady wine that captures the exuberance of St. Helena along with notable brightness and energy. Lively acids and strong mineral accents play off a core of blackberry jam, cloves, , French oak, licorice, new leather, crème de cassis and chocolate. This sumptuous Cabernet delivers the goods, but it could use a few years in bottle to soften.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Stone Place is made from estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon from Block 3, with vines that are 45+ years old. Deep garnet-purple colored, it starts off a little broody with earthy/meaty overtones of beef drippings and tilled soil leading to a core of cassis, plum preserves and black cherries plus a touch of pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, it has firm, fine-grained tannins with lovely freshness to support the tightly wound black fruit and earthy layers, finishing long and lifted. 613 cases were made.
