Tasting notes
Medium ruby-purple, the 2017 Pagani Ranch Heritage Wine is youthfully coiled and, with air, slowly opens to aromas of crushed stone, candied peach, blueberry preserves, hollyhock, rooibos and desiccated roses with accents of perfumed earth. The palate is medium to full-bodied and tightly coiled, revealing glimpses of tricolored, floral and mineral-tinged fruits. The frame is chewy, with fantastic juicy acidity and a long, evolving finish. This will benefit from another year or two in bottle.

The 2017 Heritage Wine Pagani Ranch is flat-out gorgeous and one of the many bright spots in this range. Beautifully lifted, with striking aromatic presence and nuance, the Pagani is expressive and delicious, even in the early going. Sweet floral notes and a rush of red cherry/plum fruit make a strong opening statement. In 2017, the Pagani is especially pretty and silky. Bedrock did not bring in any fruit from the old-vine Alicante block that typically comprises 10–12% of the blend, so in 2017, the Pagani is a bit different in style than usual.
