Tasting notes
The 2016 Barbaresco Casot is gorgeous. Early signs of aromatic development are starting to appear, especially in the aromatics, which make the 2016 a real joy to taste at this stage, even if some youthful tannin remains. Dark fruit, leather, rose petal, licorice and earthy tones flesh out. The 2016 is elegant yet also substantial, especially on the finish, where it has real staying power.

The Nada Giuseppe 2016 Barbaresco Casot does a spectacular job of presenting vintage, grape and territory, in no particular order of importance. In terms of mouthfeel, the wine is glossy and tight with tannins that appear and then disappear, folded neatly back into the fiber of the wine. The aromas are steady and clean with cassis, white cherry, blueberry, aniseed and camphor ash. In a nutshell, the integration of this wine is what sets it apart. The Casot cru in Treiso is distinguished by blue tufo and calcareous soils with layers of sand. These wines are fermented with ambient yeasts and see extended skin macerations. Some 8,500 bottles were made.
