The 2018 Brunello Di Montalcino Vigna La Casa is amplified with a sheen of oak spice along with toasted cedar, vanilla bean, black cherry candy, and Mediterranean herbs. Full-bodied, with ample structure, it reveals notes of plum, mocha, and black truffle, building tannins that are firmly gripping, and warming sweet baking spice. I personally prefer the 2017 to this vintage from Caparzo. Allow another couple of years and drink 2024-2030.

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa is born in a beautiful vineyard with long vistas and warm sunsets. This production of 14,000 bottles ages in oak for two years. You definitely taste the sweet spice and cinnamon from the barrel aging, but the wine also presents a good amount of dark fruit and plum. It ends with soft tannins and even a hint of oaky sweetness that underlines its accessibility. Some 14,000 bottles were made.
Mid to deep ruby. Deep, rich cherry nose with attractive oak notes giving it a modernist sheen. Plush, ripe fruit with touches of sweet oak, but builds a unity. Lush, supple finish with powdery tannins. Can be approached now but will improve further a little. (WS)
