50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc Deep garnet, almost brown. This is much more tertiary than the older vintages of Orma (2009, 2007, 2005) tasted alongside this; smells like soy, chanterelle mushroom broth and old parchment. Very little fruit left. Is this oxidised or simply too old? The tannins are still a bit coarse. Not offering much pleasure. (JRL)

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the 2013 Orma is a delicious wine. It shows a deep, rich color and an opulent style that reflects the generous and sun-drenched growing conditions of this classic vintage. This is a full-bodied Tuscan red that maintains a refreshing sense of elegance and finesse all the while. Black fruit, dried blackberry and spice come together in seamless unity. This beautiful Tuscan red should evolve nicely over the next ten years.

Dark red cherry, plum, mocha, espresso, licorice and smoke are pushed front and center in the 2013 Orma. A super-expressive, Merlot-based Maremma, the Orma is showing beautifully today. With time in the glass, the wine gains creaminess and amplitude. This is a terrific example of the style of wine the Tuscan coast does so well.

Aromas of blackberry, burnt orange, licorice and spice follow through to a full body, with super integrated and fine tannins plus a fabulous depth of fruit and center palate. This is a great wine. Drink in 2017. Jul 2016, www.jamessuckling.com
