I was able to taste two wines from Viader. The 2016 Red Blend Black Label checks in as a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Syrah, 14% Malbec, and 3% Cabernet Franc. It has a complex bouquet of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, chocolate, and crushed rocks. This carries to a wonderfully complex, elegant blend that has full-bodied richness, ripe, present tannins, and a focused, classic style. It's going to evolve for 20-25 years or more.

Viader's 2016 Black Label, the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, is one of the finer wines I have tasted here of late. Bold, racy and super-expressive, the 2016 has a lot to say. Beams of tannin give the wine its energy and overall shape, while the flavors tend towards the darker end of the spectrum, which is hardly surprising given the blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Syrah, 14% Malbec and 3% Cabernet Franc. Blackberry jam, espresso, licorice and grilled herbs add the closing shades of complexity.
The deep purple-black colored 2016 Red Blend Black Label is blended of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Syrah, 14% Malbec and 3% Cabernet Franc. Wow—this firecracker lets rip with an almighty nose of chocolate-covered cherries, cassis, blueberry compote and minted raspberries with touches of licorice, cigar box, underbrush and lilacs. Full-bodied, opulently fruited and totally seductive in the mouth, the generous black and blue fruit layers are superbly framed by ripe, grainy tannins and supported by compelling freshness, finishing with a persistent spicy kick.
