Tasting notes
A hint of lanolin from barrel mingles on the nose with site-typical lime, sweet corn, flowers and green herbs. There’s so much going on here that I can’t see why the whiff of oak should give offense. A polished feel and inner-mouth persistence of bittersweet floral perfume complement succulent white peach, pear and sweet corn. The succulently sustained finish irresistibly calls for the next sip.

Spicy oak dominates another von Winning wine. Simple sweet fruit underneath. Then atsringency. This is not a Grosses Gewächs! (JR)
Von Winning's citrus-colored 2015 Deidesheimer Grainhübel Riesling Trocken GG has a coolish, clear, fresh and concentrated lemon aroma. It also has precise and smoky flavors of crushed rocks. Round and piquant, this is a very salty, vital and linear Riesling that is very stimulating, finessed and elegant. The wine reveals a nice phenolic grip and lemony aftertaste with white stone fruit aromas. This is a still restrained, but spectacularly concentrated Riesling classic and pretty fresh and vital for 2015.
