Tasting notes
The folks at Fontanafredda refer to this wine as the Barolo "Tradizione." Following with Barolo tradition, it represents a blend of fruit from various sites. The 2014 Barolo is perfumed with lilacs and wild rose, creating a graceful and accessible wine. It is aged in large oak casks (botte grande) made with French and Slavonian oak for two years. Some 300,000 bottles were produced. If you are not familiar with Nebbiolo, this wine makes a good starting point for an ongoing education.

The 2014 Barolo Proprietà in Fontanafredda is gracious, silky and quite expressive, with fine overall balance and terrific near to medium term appeal. Sweet tobacco, menthol, licorice and smoke all add attractive nuance throughout. This is an especially fleshy, succulent style.
