Score 16/20 · Drink 2025-2030, Jancis Robinson MW, Dec 2023
Full bottle 1,293 g. Lots of lovely information on the back label. Vines from all their various Sonoma Coast vineyards, planted 1972–1999 at 500 to 1,400 feet and three to eight miles from the Pacific on greywacke, sandstone and Goldridge. Picked between 24 August and 10 September. 50% whole cluster. Aged in 16 neutral French oak barrels. Transparent blueish crimson. Prettily perfumed. Then surprisingly sweet on the palate and a little bit of dry tannin on the end. This tastes like the product of a dry summer. I'd wait before drinking this. The fruit concentration isn't quite enough to distract from the tannin. (JR)
