The 1951 Rivesaltes has a lighter bouquet than the 1945 and 1949, with nuanced scents of peppermint, mulberry and boysenberry jam. The palate is medium-bodied with a bitter note on the entry. With moderate weight in the mouth, it feels a little conservative and sharp on the finish. Drink now.

Bright foxy red.Clear with a yellow rim. Intensely cheesy, rancio nose. Supple and savoury. This does not taste like a particularly sweet wine. Treacle toffee and a little chewy on the end. Less intense than some. (JR)
