Score 89/100 · Drink 2012-2016, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Aug 2014

The 1999 Barolo Cannubi emerges from the glass with tobacco, earthiness, cedar, autumn leaves, cinnamon, nutmeg and dried cherries. Despite its considerable richness and body, the aromas and flavors are quite forward. It’s hard to see any real upside from cellaring the 1999 any further. The tannins remain quite firm, but I would be careful about opening the 1999 too far in advance, as the wine starts to fade quickly in the glass.

Score 90/100 · Drink 2003-2008, Daniel Thomases, Wine Advocate, Oct 2003

The 1999 Barolo Cannubi, from a vineyard plot which the family recently purchased at a record price, lighter in color than Sarmassa, is very balsamic on the nose, fragrant in its suffused aromas of macerated cherries, anisette, and plums, is soft and velvety on the palate, but with an inner core of strength, a caressing texture, and sweet licorice notes on the close. Deceptively ready, it will drink well until 2018. Importer: A.V. Imports, Columbia, MD; tel 800-638-7720
