Score 94/100 · Drink 2015-2023, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Aug 2014

The 2011 Terreus Pago de Cueva Baja is a single-vineyard Tempranillo from a plot in Tudela de Duero, one of the oldest vineyards in the village where the winery is located, which was planted before 1950 at 720 meters altitude where the soils are rich in sand and clay, aged for two years in brand new French oak barrels. It’s a powerful, earthy red with aromas of tar, peat and graphite, with ripe cherries, plums and blackberries that develope a high-pitched licorice note with time. The palate is full-bodied, with great intensity, concentration, power and acidity. It was bottled in January 2014 into 9,000 bottles. Drink 2015-2023. Mauro continues producing powerful, concentrated, well-oaked and true to their birthplace reds, but the big news is that with the 2013 they will release their first ever white wine! It will be a Godello from grapes grown at El Bierzo, but it will be sold, like their reds, as Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y Leon. Importer: Christopher Cannan, Europvin; www.europvin.com
