Tasting notes
85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot. From an address in Rutherford. Deep crimson. Ripe, lightly tarry on the nose and then it finishes in a tarry, drying fashion. Too bitter for me on the end. But I’m sure a lot of care went into this. (JR)

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley offers more tobacco leaf and earth, as well as loads of sweet crème de cassis fruit, graphite, espresso and hints of pencil lead. It’s more structured and concentrated than the Proprietary Red Wine, yet not quite as seamless or elegant. Give this full-bodied, seriously good 2014 2-3 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following two decades. Along with consultant Michel Rolland, winemaker Jean Hoefliger has produced an incredible number of killer wines in 2014 and 2015. If you’re interested in learning about all the various sites throughout the Valley, this is a good place to start.
Another sexy, open-knit and luscious style of wine is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa. It is a direct wine, with an extroverted personality offering plenty of red and black fruits, licorice, some toast, and a medium to full-bodied, layered finish. It should drink well for at least 15 years.
Alpha Omega's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is super-polished, refined and flat-out striking, especially for an appellation-level wine. Dark red cherry, raspberry jam, mocha, cinnamon and rose petals give the 2014 much of its brightness and aromatic presence. This is a terrific, entry-level Cabernet Sauvignon from Alpha Omega.
