Tasting notes
There are 110 cases of the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon from this well-known site on the west side of Route 29, north of St. Helena. Its dark purple color is accompanied by aromas of lead pencil shavings, pure black currants, vanilla, and licorice. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with good underlying acidity, firmness, and an elegant, restrained, structured feel. It will be at its finest between 2005-2017. Tel. Bright medium ruby. Primary aromas of blueberry, raspberry, mint and violet, complicated by sexy oak spices. Dense but tightly wound, with intense flavors of black cherry, bitter chocolate and eucalyptus. A bit stunted today in the middle palate, but finishes with nicely refined tannins.
