Score 94/100 · Drink 1963-2033, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

The 1953 Latour is drinking beautifully, wafting from the glass with rich aromas of blackcurrants, black truffles, cigar wrapper, loamy soil and sweet saddle leather. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with a sweet core of fruit and a supple, seamless, sensual profile, it's an elegant, charming wine that continues to offer flamboyant drinking when it has been stored in optimal conditions.

Level only at upper shoulder so not a perfect bottle. The wine was rather lightweight, a little volatile, a bit dull and watery. It seemed to sweeten up in the glass but I'm sure there are better bottles of this. (JR)
