Tasting notes
The golden yellow-colored 2014 Riesling Smaragd Hochrain was picked on three days in October (3, 10 and 30), and offers a clear and pure, deep and stony bouquet with white ripe stone fruit aromas. Medium to full-bodied, this juicy, intense and elegant Riesling with its aromatic stone fruit flavors is very well balanced, and reveals a lingering salinity and purity of salty stones. Good power and concentration, but also finesse in the finish, very nice purity, grip and tension.

Picked in three passes from the 3rd to the 30th of October, this features lime, green apple and gooseberry for a positively tart and invigorating performance. But there is ample textural polish and palpable extract to buffer the acids and knit together fruity and mineral elements. Wafting greenhouse-like notes of flowers and foliage as well as a hint of iodine add intrigue and apple pip piquancy provides invigoration, while stony underpinnings help set off the bright fruit in a sassily energetic, ringingly clear and fascinatingly interactive finish.
