Tasting notes
The 2002 Brut Fleur de Champagne Cuvee Belle Epoque Rose is gorgeous in the way its layers of perfumed fruit flow effortlessly from the glass. The wine shows terrific detail and nuance all the way through to the long finish. Those qualities aren’t enough, however, to compensate for what is essentially a compact, rather lean style that delivers excellent, but not outstanding, quality. This is Lot L3310755211, disgorged April 26, 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2014. Importer: Pernod Ricard USA, Purchase, NY; tel. (914) 848-4743

Pale orange-pink. Spicy strawberry and raspberry aromas are complicated by blood orange, floral and smoky mineral qualities. Medium in weight, with firm, focused red fruit flavors joined by a juicier pear note on the back. Showing a youthfully restrained personality today; I'd give it a couple years to gain more richness.
