Tasting notes
Made from 57% Cabernet Franc and 43% Merlot, the 2015 Range 30 West comes from the McGinley and Vogelzang Vineyards and was brought up in 66% new French oak. Its medium ruby color is followed by a spicy, complex, forest floor, and dried flower-scented wine that has medium to full body, bright acidity, ripe tannins, and a fresh, focused style on the palate. It has enough tannin and acidity to keep for a decade.

The 2015 Range 30 West is a blend of Cabernet Franc from McGinley and Merlot from Vogelzang. Savory and pliant, with terrific balance, this Happy Canyon blend is absolutely delicious. Drink it over the next decade or so.
A blend of 57% Cabernet Franc and 43% Merlot, the 2015 Range 30 West Happy Canyon Of Santa Barbara was rather angular and disjointed when I tasted it, revealing notes of jammy red fruit and green herbs, followed by a firm, acerbic palate with an abrupt finish. Perhaps I just caught it on a bad day?
