2006 AR.PE.PE. Valtellina Superiore - Sassella Stella Retica Riserva

From 50-year-old vines at 550 m, picked late and the wine is given extended maceration. Very pale brick red. Wonderfully subtle bouquet with real delicacy, something tarry, sun on rocks, and a hint of orange peel. I wonder when this was put on the market? It certainly seems well ready but with delightful transparency. Real freshness here. (JR)
