Tasting notes
Good full red. Aromatic nose combines strawberry, raspberry, woodsmoke, mace and exotic spices. Broad but uncompromisingly dry, with strawberry and mineral flavors offering moderate vibrancy. A tad dry on the end. Reportedly made from a tiny crop; the wine spent 30 days on its skins and was not racked or sulfured until eight mont hs after the harvest.

The outstanding, deep ruby-colored 2002 Pinot Noir Estate is a sexy, Burgundian-styled effort displaying aromas of blue and black fruits as well as flowers, a natural texture, supple tannin, and lush fruit. Like Brewer-Clifton, Melville utilizes some stems, usually between 33-50%. Tel. (805) 735-7030
Good medium red. Crushed strawberry, cassis, raspberry and spicy oak on the nose. Dense and spicy, with a nicely restrained sweetness. Flavors of raspberry and spices are complicated by notes of underbrush and smoke. Finishes firm, with fine tannins.
