Tasting notes
Similar to when it was released, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Verdad is loaded with ripe blue fruits, chocolate, violets, spice, and camphor notes, and it picks up a bloody, iron-like nuance with time in the glass. With full-bodied richness and a ripe, powerful, yet structured mouthfeel, it shows the purity, focus, and precision of the 2018 vintage while still bringing gorgeous depth and richness. As always, this is slightly more structured and inward compared to the more extroverted La BAM release. Give it 3-4 years, and it will evolve for 30 years or more.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Verdad is a powerhouse. Huge tannins wrap around a core of blackberry jam, spice, chocolate, espresso, menthol and licorice in a brooding, dark wine endowed with tremendous concentration and intensity and the searing tannins to match. Sporting a deep garnet-purple color, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Verdad gives up compelling notes of fresh black and red currants, ripe black plums, wild blueberries and cedar chest with wafts of oolong tea, charcoal and Indian spices plus a fragrant suggestion of lavender. The densely laden, full-bodied palate is jam-packed with black and blue fruit preserves, featuring a firm, grainy-textured backbone and just enough freshness, finishing long and perfumed.
