Tasting notes
Cooked apple and pineapple with some resin and nut undertones. It’s full, layered and generous, yet tight at the end, with a brioche and light butter aftertaste. Luscious. Showy. Drink or hold.

The 2019 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is incredibly distinctive this vintage, über marine-like with notes of iodine, nori and crushed stone floating over a core of white peaches and jasmine. The palate is exceptionally pure and intense, its satiny texture opposed by tangy acidity, and it finishes extraordinarily long and packed with flavor. It's a step up in quality in 2019, as if the volume of this wine's character has been turned up a notch. Give this generous, plush wine the time in cellar it deserves. (EB)
The 2019 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is deep, and concentrated. In 2019, I am especially taken by the wine's viscosity and sheer richness, both at a level I have never seen here previously. Lemon confit, marzipan, dried flowers, chamomile and almond build in a statuesque Chardonnay that delivers the goods. In 2019, the Hudson is especially fine. The purity of the fruit is remarkable, while the note of reduction that is typical of Hudson is not especially evident. (AG)

About the producer

Kistler’s Chardonnays are some of the world’s most sought-after. This cult Californian producer crafts small volumes of exceptional, rich and generous, yet mineral and precise wines. With almost the entire production sold directly to their mailing list, the wines are also incredibly hard to find.
