2017 Ghizzano - Veneroso

Full bottle just 1,275 g. 'The estate's most representative wine' made since 1985 from about 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon fermented spontaneously in open vats and aged for 16 months in 500-litre casks. Organically certified. Mid garnet. Nicely integrated nose though with quite a bit of oak tannin on the palate. It's only just ready to broach, I'd say. Absolutely bone dry, and slightly drying, on the finish which has the odd chestnut note. Needs a bit of time. (JR)
