Score 17.5/20 · Drink 2015-2022, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Jun 2016

Fruit is from the Armagh vineyard, which is composed of dark, rocky and iron-rich soil. 100% whole cluster. After fermentation the wine spends 16 months in oak. No new oak. Deep garnet and invitingly peppery if not very expressive at first. Elegant and compact with wonderful balance. There is some fruit sweetness on the palate but that is not the dominant effect because it remains subtle, cool and totally Syrah. (JH)
