Tasting notes
Saturated ruby. Incredibly primary aromas of blackberry, black cherry, licorice and minerals. Densely packed, rich and deep, with its terrific black fruit intensity complemented by saline minerality. Showing little easy sweetness today but this extremely primary wine boasts outstanding richness, grip and length and has a very long future ahead of it. The big, broad, dusty tannins display the nobility of the vintage.

The 2010 Vecina is another head-turner. Powerful and ample, with huge tannins and structure, the 2010 hits all the senses with stunning intensity and gravitas. Vecina is always a big wine, but the 2010 has an extra gear of attention-grabbing allure. The 2010 won't be ready to drink anytime soon. Readers will have to be especially patient here. (AG)

Loads of currants and plums with hints of flowers. Ripe fruit nose. Full body with a stony, mineral, salt and berry character. Chewy tannins. Toned and muscular.
