Beautiful restraint on the nose, really stands out for its discreet exuberance and juicy nuance. Charming, fresh figs, raspberry, black cherry, cranberry, cocoa bean, espresso, salted cracker and sea salt. Melted tannins, and fully getting into its stride. As with the last time I tasted this pair, the 2009 just edges out over the 2010, and for now the gap has widened slightly. Yield 35hl/h, 60% new oak, 3.75ph.

Fresh nose and very lively. Racy (a rare attribute in 2009). Slightly charred notes and definitely made from very ripe fruit but a good effort has been made to keep it appetising. (JR)

A gorgeous caress of aromatics, spice and power. A vintage that took its time to showcase the terroir as it was so overladen with pleasure, richness, alcohol, chocolate and spice in its early years, but it is now begining to show its juicier side, with the saffron and salt-licked minerality coming to the fore. Can be drunk now if opened for a good 2-3 hours, or keep for another 3 years to really reach the plateau, and then it will stay there for a good few decades. Yield 35hl/h, 60% new oak, 3.75ph.
