2007 Cote Rotie

100% Syrah Rich, rather oaky and obvious nose. Good fresh fruit, but overall a little lacking purity of expression and excitement – though certainly very competent. This splits the difference between the classical elegant style and the riper Guigal one. Zesty, but a bit tentative. Not a sure fire winner, I would have thought. (JR)
